Lives in Port Coquitlam, BC
In Chi Fun Wong’s paintings, solidity and fluidity make geometric abstraction and Chinese ink wash painting sit on two ends of the spectrum. Their contrast is comparable to soda and tea which hardly mingle. Wong’s works bring the two opposing media together. He combines the impersonal, methodical and deliberate nature of hard-edged geometry with the poetic, arbitrary and emotional organic ink wash. His works are the container of conflict and harmony, and the result of the juxtaposition of East and West.
