Artist Statement
Nicola Tibbetts is a painter who uses her medium to tell stories, experience a sense of place, and sometimes simply to make something beautiful. Her paintings have ranged from explorations of the stillness and clarity of Nunavut to showcasing the banal beauty of Vancouver’s parkscapes in winter. Nicola’s textile work departs from representation to investigate fabric, dye, and abstraction.
