Hall-Patch, Vanessa
Focusing on themes of collecting, recording and preservation, Vanessa Hall-Patch documents objects and structures within her rural surroundings of Bowen Island, British Columbia. Often rooted in nostalgia or tied to a memory, the depicted objects are presented as isolated images, with the surrounding environment sliced away. Using a combination of printmaking techniques, she layers detailed photo-etchings with silkscreen, embossing, goldleaf and chine collé.
Hall-Patch received an MFA in printmaking from the University of Alberta (2004) and a BFA with honours from Queen’s University (2001).
