Artist Statement

Liz Toohey-Wiese has an ongoing interest in the history of landscape painting. Her paintings explore contemporary relationships between identity and place. Toohey-Wiese grew up in the suburbs of Vancouver, and her work seeks to intervene in the broader notion of “landscape” in the city and the surrounding natural areas she finds herself in.
