Artist Statement
Taralee Guild inherited a paint box and easel when she was young and taught herself to paint. Her work has focused on two key subjects: west coast forests and Airstreams, those aluminum trailers from the mid-20th century. In Guild’s complex compositions, an object is camouflaged by its surroundings, referencing the formlessness and double imagery of the Surrealist movement.
