Artist Statement

Shirley Wiebe is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist. At the heart of her practice is the discovery, exploration and adaptation of materials that make up her sculpture, installations, drawing and printmaking.

Her monoprints and collages incorporate textures from found materials, lines and markings from twigs, and instant coffee as pigment. They weave together landscape, memory and material to form richly animated topographies.
