Artist Statement

Sarinah Haba explores the places where memory lives, the space between recollection and certainty. As a painter, she is looking for clues to examine and express a sense of belonging. Haba combines transparent washes with colour blocking to build energy and depth and to open up space. Gestural lines create a sense of movement and develop dynamic communication. This fluidity seeks resolution or definition, whether in figurative, structural or pattern imagery.
