Art Rental & Sales at the Vancouver Art Gallery is pleased to present Here and There, a show of new work by Featured Artist Vanessa Hall-Patch.

Vanessa Hall-Patch's Here and There brings together past and new works, expanding on her exploration of the impermanence of British Columbia’s vernacular architecture and the landscapes they inhabit. These works reflect on the tension between transience and permanence, finding beauty in the inevitable cycles of loss and renewal.

Through layered printmaking techniques—including etching, screen printing, relief, and chine collé—Hall-Patch documents cabins and cottages that are slowly disappearing. By cutting these structures away from their backgrounds, she brings focus to their forms, preserving their presence while embracing impermanence as an essential part of their beauty and meaning.

In addition to documenting the cabins, she also shifts her focus to the natural surroundings left behind in their absence, centering the landscapes as independent pieces. These new works capture empty spaces that speak to the disappearance of these structures while emphasizing the resilience and permanence of the landscape.

Here and There suggests a duality—of presence and absence, preservation and change. It speaks to the shifting nature of these spaces and the delicate balance between what remains and what fades away.
