Featured Artist Joyce Kamikura | Garland of Creation
Garland of Creation is an exhibition of works by Joyce Kamikura that encompasses the range of subjects that have defined her painting career. Kamikura's paintings are a personal response to her surroundings. Her subject matter often draws inspiration from otherwise insignificant or unexpected places: something that flashes and whistles at her, transforming on the canvas into shapes, colour, and line. Her subjects range from landscape, to life studies and florals.
Joyce Kamikura was born in Steveston, B.C., and raised in Japan. She spent her early years in B.C.'s Lemon Creek internment camp, before relocating to Japan. As a teenager, she moved back to Canada, first to Montreal before settling in Richmond. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration from UBC. A practicing artist for decades, Kamikura's work has been widely published and exhibited in Canada and internationally.
Kamikura's work will be featured in the Showroom until August 21, 2026.
The Showroom is open Monday - Friday, 10am - 5pm. Appointments are encouraged.
