Transmissions

Art Rental & Sales at the Vancouver Art Gallery is pleased to present
Transmissions by AR&S Featured Artist Danielle Bobier

Small Transmissions, 2024, Danielle Bobier, oil, wax, acrylic on panel, 9" x 9"

Guided by the horizon line—a threshold between the known and unknown— the heart of Transmissions resides in the contemplation of the notion of heaven. Created over a period of five years, the paintings in this exhibition began as an exercise in refuge from existential anxieties. Drawing inspiration from my upbringing on the West Coast, this body of work has become a means of exploration into the climate and tectonics of my inner world. The recurring house-shaped icon becomes an otherworldly messenger, embodying the concept of ‘numen’, a divine presence that presides over a place. The artworks honour the cyclical nature of existence, shifting between creation and erosion, comfort and unease, and invite the question of what may lie beyond our own horizons.

Danielle Bobier is a Vancouver-based artist who finds influence in the forces of nature and the ever-changing atmosphere of the internal experience. Through the actions of observation and transformation, her practice filters both inner and outer landscapes through an abstracted and symbolic lens. Working primarily as a painter, she fosters an interest in the perceptual and emotive effects of colour as a vehicle for meditation.
